Platform Technologies
The technological platform developed by the Biotronix Division is characterized by a set of engineering methods and devices with a high level of integrability and packageability aimed at the replacement, support, assistance or enhancement of the mobility of the human body.
The engineering components of the platform are:
- complex control;
- artificial intelligence;
- advanced actuators;
- power electronics;
- informatics;
- mechanics;
- electronics and biomechanics.
The technological edge of the platform lies on the innovative module design in which each module owns the full capacity to be integrated to each other; this “integrability-packagability” characteristic ensures the necessary interactivity level between the bionic device and the user.
- Impedance-simulating controllers with control strategies such as equilibrium position strategy, impedance definition through physiological correlations and impedance adjustment with gain scheduling;
- Low-level layer controllers including control strategies such as control by impedance, stand-alone reactive behavior implementation and implicit integration of physiological compliant behavior;
- High-power density BLCD actuators;
- Multi-stage power transmissions;
- Alternative actuation technologies such as magneto-rheological actuators and smart materials;
- Application-specific drive amplifiers;
- High-capacity embedded power supplies;
- Advanced charger and management systems;
- High-efficiency DC-DC converters;
- Application-specific signal processing algorithms;
- Application-specific embedded software and programmable logic;
- Bluetooth™ wireless management systems;
- Mechatronic systems packaging;
- Advanced structural designs;
- Smart structures for complex applications;
- Custom RTOS systems.
Based on the said competencies and expertise, Biotronix’s scientists and engineers have created various inventive mechanisms that have been used in, or become part of, developed products. Among other inventive mechanisms, there are our advanced controllers for biomechatronic applications, our high-density power supply technology and our human locomotion simulator.
