Power Knee – Second Version

The Biotronix Division is currently working on the development of the second version of the Power Knee. Since its introduction on the market in September 2006, this product has paved the way to a new generation of leg prostheses. From that moment, the O&P community has recognized that Victhom’s Biotronix Division was able to imagine a new kind of prosthesis, addressing for the first time of the O&P history the intrinsic needs of lower-limb amputees, by offering a true bionic device that can “walk by itself”.

Despite the highly innovative aspect of this invention, its current design limits the Power Knee to a certain type of individuals of the above-knee amputee population. People with a given height, categorized as K3 and K4 amputees and fond of technology, represent the main market for this first version.

The second version of the Power Knee should broaden the market to shorter, less active people and amputees with limited mobility. Consequently, the current development is specifically aimed at a noteworthy improvement of the main technical features of the initial product: size and bulk, weight, sound level, artificial intelligence performance and, most importantly, cost of the device.
