Products and Technologies

Human bionics consists in integrating a mechatronic apparatus to the human body, i.e., using electronic, informatics and mechanical technologies in order to compensate for various physiological dysfunctions.

BioTronix Division
Bionic Leg - the POWER KNEE
Victhom’s motorized prosthesis is the first in the world to provide the necessary power to restore amputated lower-limb function during non-conventional portions of locomotion. The behavior of the prosthesis is determined through a combination of artificial proprioceptors, resulting in the keyed sound side sensory control.

Bionic Orthosis
Based on the POWER KNEE technological platform, Victhom is currently designing a bionic orthosis that will address patients with severe mobility problems requiring rehabilitation and assistance for everyday activities. This technology is developed in collaboration with our partner Ossur.

NeuroBionix Division
Bionized™ CLS Platform
The Bionized™ CLS is a platform that features real-time interaction with the peripheral nervous system. It has the ability to sense and modulate the sensory and motor nerve signals selectively. Based on a closed-loop architecture, commands are generated through a proprietary Artificial Intelligence (AI) subsystem that relies on a proven concept used for phenomenological signal interpretation within our BioTronix division.

The Bionized™ CLS comprises very innovative implantable components such as the Neurocuff™ electrode and the Neurolink™ ENG signal amplifier.

Neurostep™
Victhom is developing a totally implantable device capable of restoring the mobility of a patient affected by foot drop. The Neurostep™ makes it possible to artificially synchronize the activation of the ankle dorsiflexion movement through stimulation of the peripheral nerves related to the anterior muscles of the leg. This implant uses neurosensing and neurostimulation technologies based on technological platforms being developed by Victhom.

Urinary Disorders Implant
Victhom’s Urinary Disorders Implant represents the next generation of “pacemaker for the bladder”. It is intended to help people who suffer from bladder dysfunction caused by spinal cord injury. By using two different electrical stimulation patterns, this “dual” neurostimulator allows for the protection of the upper urinary system from the damages caused by bladder hyperreflexia and it enables the patient to void their bladder on demand. Furthermore, it does not require a rhizotomy to be performed, thus preserving the patient’s remaining sexual function.

Neurocuff™ Platform
Victhom’s Neurocuff™ is the most advanced “multi-channel” cuff design for the sensing and stimulation of the peripheral nervous system. The Neurocuff™ has all the necessary features to guarantee safe and efficient long-term implantation. Its neurosensing capabilities allow for the simultaneous measurement of several signal sources from distinct sensory fiber subpopulations bundled into a single peripheral nerve trunk. In the same way, the neurostimulation capabilities permit the electrical modulation of specific areas on the circumference of a peripheral nerve in order to stimulate subgroups of motor nerve fibers for the restoration of various physiological or biomechanical functions.

Neurosensing Platform
Victhom’s neurosensing platform comprises hardware and software components for the measurement and processing of electroneurographic (ENG) signal from peripheral nerves. The neurosensing platform includes the Neurolink™ microchip for the amplification of microvolt level signals to a standard micro-electronic level for digital processing. This platform uses several processing software tools for the reduction of noise and for the extraction of useful information from raw ENG signals. The role of the neurosensing platform is to prepare the raw ENG signal for the high-level signal processing performed by the artificial intelligence of the neuromodulation device for the recognition of physiological or biomechanical events associated to a medical indication.
